LLC Fast Facts

Important things to know when you’re thinking about forming an LLC (or if you already have one but aren’t sure you’ve got it all covered):

1. Filing for/forming an LLC is *not* the same as actually legally own the business name. The way we do that is through trademark registration. ®️

2. You have to maintain your LLC once it’s formed! For example, CA requires a minimum payment to the Franchise Tax Board and biannual filings to keep your LLC legally active.

3. Your LLC should absolutely have an Operating Agreement (think about this like a user’s manual for your LLC). If you filed your own LLC, you may not have this document because it’s not something you file with the State.
