5 Things To Know When Pitching an Endorsement/Sponsorship...
Trying something a little different today!
Curious to hear from the person on the other side of that endorsement/brand/sponsorship deal you’re pitching? According to Sales, Marketing, & Artist Relations expert Trevor Fedele, here’s what you need to know before sending in that pitch:
1. Be honest about the data you’re providing. If you don’t have 30,000 followers, or 100,000 subscribers, then don’t lie. They WILL fact-check you. Lying or misleading a brand from the get go will ruin any relationship you were trying to seek.
2. Be clear about what you’re asking for. Are you looking for free product(s), payment for a sponsored post, or just money for an event? Do the work for them - don’t make them guess what you want.
3. Be clear with what you can offer. Will you provide a review? A post on your feed of 50k followers? Brand exposure at an event? Again, do the legwork.
4. Have a personal connection to the brand. Long-time customer? Did a product change your life? Already giving glowing reviews for their products or services? If you don’t necessarily have a personal connection to the brand, then draw a clear one. If you’re a wellness podcast then explain how this superfood company’s products will resonate with specifically your audience.
5. Remember who you’re speaking to and keep your pitch clear & concise. Also remember that usually, there’s a manager or team that your contact will have to run your ask by or get approval from. The easier you make this for them, the better your chances.
Good luck! And once you score that deal...MAKE SURE IT IS IN WRITING!
