Privacy Policies
Let’s talk Privacy Policies!
Does your business have a website? Do you operate business in California, AND/OR does your website reach California residents? If so, you want to make sure you’re in compliance with just one of California’s many privacy policies: CalOPPA!
Cal OPPA [California Online Privacy Protection Act] applies to businesses operating in CA and makes it necessary to include a privacy policy on your website if you:
+ own a business
+ with an online website 💻
+ that collects personally identifiable information from visitors to your website. (Personally identifiable information includes things like SSN, name, address, phone number, email address, etc.) 🗂
If this is you, your privacy policy will need to be conspicuously posted, and will need to include several important disclosures.
Also note this: since websites are accessible worldwide, it’s smart to make sure you’re also in compliance with all applicable privacy policies, *including* Europe’s GDPR, + possible others.
