How do I know I need an LLC?

Unpopular opinion time:

You don't *always* need to file for an LLC immediately.

I said it.
But it had to be said.

I see too many business owners hopping into an LLC immediately because they think they have to, because their business bestie has one, or because Google told them to. But an LLC is not a one-size-fits-all!

So when you ask "how do I know I need an LLC?"

Like the broken record that I am, I'll reply joyfully:

It depends.

• What personal assets could be vulnerable?
• Do you have business partners?
• How much money is the business making?
• Do you have business insurance?
• How will this affect your taxes?
• How many business(es) are you running?
• What industry are you in?
