Conquer the Copycats
FYI: Blasting your copycat(s) on social media won’t solve the problem. ⠀
But you know what will? Copyright registration. © ⠀
⠀
Ever had your work copied or stolen? You know how terrible this feeling can be.⠀
⠀
All of that hard work and creative effort - for what? For someone else to rip it right out of your hands (or in most cases, from your website, social media, online shop, etc.)
⠀
[Heads up - if you’ve been fortunate enough to never have your work stolen from you, you’ll want to save this post! ]⠀
⠀⠀
So what does the word “copyright” MEAN? A “Copyright” is the legal ownership of something you’ve created. You can protect many kinds of things that you create with a copyright registration with the US Copyright Office. (Note that this is different from trademark protection, which is usually for a brand name/logo/slogan/etc).⠀⠀
⠀⠀
What does copyright PROTECT? Copyright protection ensures that you, as the creator of someTHING have the exclusive right to use that THING. That means others can’t copy/take/steal your creations! ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
What CAN YOU PROTECT under copyright? Blog posts, e-books, t-shirt designs, stickers, courses, webinars, video content, podcast episodes, photographs, & more! As long as you’ve created something original, you usually can protect it under copyright!⠀⠀⠀
