Do You Need a Podcast Guest Release?
FYI: What you have them sign *before* you hit record is more important than what they say during that interview! ⠀
⠀
If you feature guests on your podcast, typically your main focus is how to get the best guests that will make for the best interviews. ⠀
⠀
But it doesn’t matter if your guest is your brother , your friend from college , or even J.Lo herself (I have so many questions).⠀
If you don’t have your Guest sign a Podcast Guest Release form, you could be risking having to kiss that interview goodbye. ⠀
⠀
In California, people automatically have the right of publicity to their name/voice/image/likeness. Therefore, if you’re recording someone for your podcast, you need to have your guest(s) waive their rights - allowing you (the podcaster) to use their name/voice/etc. ⠀
⠀
This type of waiver should be a part of your podcast release form to best protect you and your podcast episodes.⠀
⠀
Could you imagine going through all that hard work to produce an episode - just to have that person send you a cease and desist to have you drop the entire thing?
